On August 28, the Baltimore County Council voted on hundreds of rezoning issues filed during the 2012 process. The VPC was particularly happy with votes to downzone the Chestnut Ridge property in District 2 and to retain the agricultural zoning on the Mt. Carmel Tree Farm in District 3. Many expressed concerns about multiple upzonings in the 3rd District outside the VPC’s territory. We were relieved to see that a proposed upzoning in District 6 along the Bird River was not approved. That request would have changed 150 acres of RC2 land (outside the URDL) to DR3.5, allowing for hundreds of homes on an agricultural parcel, setting a dangerous precedent. Summary of Council Actions
