With increasing food production safety regulations and food-borne health issues on the rise, there has never been a better time to support local farms for fresh, home-grown fruits, vegetables, dairy and other foods. Plus, by buying from local farms you economically support your neighbors in the farming community.
According to American Farmland Trust, “Ninety-one percent of America’s fruit and seventy-eight percent of our vegetables are grown near metro regions, where they are in the path of development. And every hour we lose 125 acres of farm and ranch land. That’s why supporting local food and farms is more important than ever!”
You can do your part to help support local farmers in Baltimore County by visiting these farms and enjoying the locally-grown foods they have to offer.
