Project Description
UPDATE: The applicants withdrew their application for a special exception.
BACKGROUND: The owners of 1696 Hillside Road applied for a special exception to allow a landscape service operation and a horticultural nursery on a farm. The property is zoned to allow for the special exception.
VPC opposed the special exception based on the noise and traffic that would result. VPC believes the operation would be detrimental to the safety and general welfare of the locality involved. It would also be detrimental to the environmental and natural resources of the area, including streams, on a parcel zoned RC2.
VPC further felt that the adverse impacts of the landscape operation at this particular location would be greater than those normally associated with landscape operations.
The petition for the special exception was withdrawn and dismissed in October 2021, before a hearing could be held.
VPC will monitor applications for special exceptions on the property and will challenge proposed uses that would be detrimental to the area.
